2015 marks the one hundred year anniversary celebrating when water was delivered to NY City from the Ashokan Reservoir by way of the gravity fed Catskill Aqueduct. Deep Water tells the story of what historian, Bob Steuding called “The Last of the Handmade Dams.” While much of the work was done by hand, the workers had available the latest technology of the time and made good use of steam powered engines and machines.
Here are a few steam machines collected as part of the research for the film and from the producer's collection. Enjoy!
