The Windham Chapter of the Catskill Mountain Foundation and the Windham Area Recreational Foundation (WARF), two Windham-based nonprofit organizations that have been collecting funds flood relief, are now ready to give it away.
The two groups presently have almost $600,000 in donations, combining funds from last week's benefit at Windham Mountain, donations to the Catskill Mountain Foundation, and donations to the WARF.
Between now and Monday, October 24, Windham business owners and residents in need because of Irene can apply to both organizations for flood relief assistance.
The two funds are slightly different. WARF is disbursing funds to "anyone who resides in the Windham, Ashland, or Jewett school districts whose business or residence sustained damage during Irene." The deadline to apply for WARF funds is approaching fast: the last day to apply is Monday, October 24.
You can apply online here or pick up paper applications to both funds at Windham Mountain Outfitters, Bunce Realty or the Law Offices of Sean Doolan. Completed applications should be returned to Windham Mountain Outfitters, 61 State Route 296, Windham, NY 12496.
The Windham Chaper of the Catskills Mountain Foundation is receiving relief applications until October 31. Windham Chapter funds will only go to property owners within the town of Windham itself. You can apply online for those funds here.
