The State Police are reporting that a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man who walked into the woods alone on Monday has been found dead today in a 500-acre area off of Anbu Rd. in the town of Shandaken. There are no details yet about how Christopher Brennan died, but the press release, reprinted below, states that police do not suspect foul play.
The New York State Police and The Town of Shandaken Police Dept. have been coordinating a missing persons investigation and a search which commenced on November 1st, 2010. A 20 year old male, Christopher Brennan of Flourtown, PA. was in Shandaken visiting family friends when he walked into the woods alone. An intensive search directed by The New York State Forrest Rangers was commenced on the evening of 11/01/10 which included State Police Aviation, Search and Rescue dogs from New Jersey and Long Island Search and Rescue. The search was expanded to include members of the Shandaken-Allaben, Phoenicia, West Hurley, Pine Hill, Centerville Fire Depts., the Ulster County Fire Coordinator's Office, Sheriff's Dept., and the Emergency Response Team which were all needed to cover the over 500 acre area located off of Anbu Rd where Brennan was last seen. At 10:15am this morning Brennan was located, deceased, by one of the Forrest Rangers involved in the ground search. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed tomorrow's date at Kingston Hospital. State Police are continuing the investigation, but do not suspect any foul play at this time.
