The New York State Police report that a 40-year-old Deposit man was killed on Wednesday when his pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer hauling a pre-fabricated house in the town of Sanford, NY.
Bruce Singleton was a football coach at Seton Catholic Central High School in Binghamton, according to the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, which ran an article on the accident last night:
Bruce Singleton, a defensive and special teams coach at Seton Catholic Central in Binghamton, was killed when his pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer, according to state police.
According to Seton Catholic Central head football coach Mike Story, Singleton began coaching football at the school in the fall of 2010.
"I was fortunate enough to not just coach with Bruce, but to work with him," Story said. "I would spend 12 hours a day with him. There are a lot of good people in the world, but there are few who are not only good but make those around him better. He was one of those.
"The kids loved him, he did a great job and was a super motivator," he added. "It's a great loss. It's a big set of shoes that won't be filled for a long time."
In a press release, which you can read in full below, the State Police describe how Singleton's 2008 Dodge pickup truck was travelling south on State Route 41 at 12:30pm on November 9 when its cab hit the extended mirror of a tractor trailer hauling pre-fabricated house heading the other way.
Singleton's pickup truck cab then hit a section of the house that was being hauled on the tractor-trailer. The driver of the tractor-trailer was Jason Hoffman of Pennsylvania.

NYSP Investigates Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident (Sanford, N.Y., November 10, 2011)
On November 9, 2011, at approximately 12:33 p.m., the New York State Police in Deposit, N.Y., investigated a car/tractor trailer fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 41 in the Town of Sanford, N.Y.
The initial investigation revealed a 2008 Dodge pick up truck, being operated by Bruce Singleton, age 40, of 8 Lippincott Place, Deposit, N.Y. was southbound on State Route 41 when it struck a northbound 2005 Freightliner hauling an oversized load being operated by Jason A. Hoffman, of 1088 State Route 104, Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania. Preliminary investigation indicates the cab of Singleton’s vehicle struck the extended mirror of Hoffman’s vehicle and then a section of a pre-fabricated house, the load being hauled. Bruce Singleton was declared deceased after the accident.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly and his daughter, Lucille Ann; parents, Lynn and Harry Hartz, Roger J.
