A recent series of bomb threats in Ulster County continued on Monday, Sept. 26 when a 35-year-old Kingston woman was arrested for allegedly planting four notes containing bomb threats in the Shandaken business where she worked, according to a press release from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.
This is the third bomb threat incident handled by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office in two weeks. On Sept. 22, a 14-year-old was arrested after a note with a bomb threat was found on the campus of Onteora Central School. And on Sept. 15, a bomb threat caused an evacuation at the Woodstock Golf Club.
Monday's threat was discovered in the early morning by the staff of a business located on Route 28 in the town of Shandaken, police say. An employee called 911 after a handwritten note "indicating that a bomb was about to go off," according to the press release.
The business, which is not being identified, was investigated by an explosive-sniffing dog from the town of Saugerties Police Department and determined not to contain a bomb, police say.
Another bomb threat note was found during the search of the building, and then, after police departed, staff at the business called 911 again to report that another note had been found.
In total, four bomb threat notes were found at the business, police say.
Nicole M. Gorsline, an employee at the business, was arrested in connection with the threats and charged with four counts of class E felony reporting an incident in the second degree, police say.
Gorsline was arraigned in the town of Shandaken Court and was released, according to the press release. New York State Police and police from the towns of Shandaken and Saugerties helped with the investigation, police say.
