The Mountain Biking World Cup held over the weekend in Windham was a blast, reports Catskills Cycling, which was there to watch the whole thing. Not only did the proprietor of the local cycling website have videos and finish-line photos of the winners of the various events, but he also posted an account of trying out one of the courses himself:
Against my better judgement (suffering from cold or allergies all week), I signed up, raced, crashed, fell, and looked like a star maybe once. My lefty fork was not 'locking out' and seemed really soft. I felt like I had little control on the descent turns. So after the race I made a bee line to the Cannondale pit to see if they had any advice about how to resolve the issue. Troy Laffey (the head wrench and tweaker extraordinaire) seemed stand offish with me at first. I can't blame him. He probably sees gumbys like me all day.
