*Update, 8:20pm: As of 6:45pm, WTEN News had a story, but not much more information:
A nearby business owner tell us there is an incident going on in an apartment above the Windham Hardware store on Main Street (Route 23) involving several teens and that there is a large police presence there.
**Update, 10pm: Capital Region YNN reporter Solomon Syed is on the scene, and on Twitter as well, though details about exactly what's happening are scant. Here's YNN with a brief video update.
***Update, 10:10pm: CBS 6/WRGB is on the scene, and has spoken with the owner of Windham Hardware. A few more details:
Police said they believe the suspects are the same people involved in a strong-armed robbery in Cairo last night.
During that robbery, they are believed to have stolen a safe and several guns.
****Update, 12am: Fox 23 reports that three men and one woman were taken from the apartment by police, without incident -- and that it may not have been a hostage situation after all.
Police are searching the apartment, and are investigating whether it was a hostage or standoff situation.
Police do believe there are firearms inside the apartment that were stolen from a home invasion in Cairo earlier Wednesday. A swat team was on hand just in case.
The Town of Windham Historical Society, which has been keeping track of the situation on their Facebook page, reported about an hour ago that Route 23 was open again and people who had been evacuated were being allowed to return to their homes.
