As the fourth Thursday in November rolls around, we gather in a spirit of gratitude for our mountain peaks and sparkling creeks, our deer and raptors and black bear, and for each other. Here are some places to feast among neighbors in the Catskills this Thanksgiving Day. Unless otherwise specified, all events are taking place on Thursday, Nov. 26.
DELAWARE COUNTY
The Interfaith Council is inviting everyone in the greater Margaretville community to its 5th annual free Thanksgiving dinner, taking place from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the Margaretville United Methodist Church. All are welcome and take-outs are available.
A free community dinner will take place in Walton at the First Congregational Church from 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Over 300 people gathered last year. To order take out (they’ll even deliver, within Walton only) call 607-865-4066 or 607-865-7574. (The church also hosts a free luncheon every single Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.)
You can feast in Andes at the Andes Hotel Thanksgiving Dinner, served from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. It’s a sumptuous three-course menu with a range of choices for non-turkey folks as well. $32 per person, half price for kids.

The Hobart Book Village in Hobart will be holding its annual Thanksgiving Day Weekend blowout sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (that’s Nov. 27, 28, and 29) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with 30 percent off all books at their five outstanding bookstores.
Small business Saturday is happening across Delaware County on Saturday, Nov. 28. In Delhi, celebrate the “grand re-opening” of the bridge in the center of town and of Sunnydale Florist at 10:30 a.m. In Andes, shops will be open all day Saturday with carolers, Santa, a holiday market, live music and the grand reopening of the Andes General Store, which is under new management after being closed for over a year. In Margaretville, Margaretville’s Main Street will be bustling with Holiday on Main, with visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, carolers, a holiday parade that kicks off at 11 a.m. and a tree lighting ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
All weekend long in Delhi, Maple Shade Farm is hosting Christmas on the Farm with three barns full of gift and craft vendors on Saturday, Nov. 28 and Sunday, Nov. 29.
GREENE COUNTY
On Thanksgiving Day, a free community feast sponsored by Hope’s Mission of Greene County will take place at the United Methodist Church in Coxsackie from 12 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. If you live in the greater Coxsackie area, they’ll deliver; call 518-731-8989 for details.
You’re invited to join the family at the Vesuvio Restaurant in Windham for a traditional Thanksgiving feast being served from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. Turkey and all the fixings will be served family-style; their complete a la carte menu will be available for those who dare to be different.

Come join the Windham Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, Nov. 28 for their annual Thanksgiving weekend concert, taking place at the Doctorow Center in Hunter at 8 p.m. This year’s offering is Mostly Mozart, and features renowned pianist Anna Polonsky.
SCHOHARIE COUNTY
A free Thanksgiving feast will be served at 4 p.m. at Grace & Son/The Breakfast Club in Jefferson. All are welcome; let them know you’re coming by calling 607-652-2700.
SULLIVAN COUNTY

Come out to Jeffersonville on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. and enjoy the annual James Dworestsky Memorial Holiday Parade. They’ll have socializing with Santa and his helpers at the firehouse afterwards.
ULSTER COUNTY
Turkey Trots have become the appetite-enhancer of choice in several towns. Come run with your neighbors and support good works.
The New Paltz Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day and benefits FAMILY of New Paltz. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a “Mashed Potato” half-mile fun run for kids age seven and younger; the main course includes a timed 5K race for competitive runners, a 5K untimed fun run and walk and T-shirts and prizes.
The Kingston Turkey Trot, featuring a 5K run and a two-mile fun run, starts at 9 a.m. at Dietz Stadium. There’s free parking and strollers are welcome. The event benefits the Little Free Libraries project of the Junior League.
The Phoenicia Turkey Trot will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to “run, walk, wobble or trot” the 2.4-mile course and help out the Rotary Club of Phoenicia. The first 100 entrants will get free T-shirts.
Stop by the Creative Co-op in Rosendale anytime between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. to partake of a free community Thanksgiving. All are welcome; they’d love it if you can bring a potluck dish, a beverage, or your instrument and a song to share. Call 845-527-5672 for details.
Family of Woodstock will be hosting their 40th annual free Thanksgiving feast at the Mescal Hornbeck Community Center in Woodstock from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Join the good folk of the Caring Hands Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry for a Community Communion Celebration and Thanksgiving Dinner, served up free at 12 p.m. at the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church in Kingston.
The United Methodist Church in New Paltz hosts a free Thanksgiving Community Dinner. Appetizers are served at 1 p.m., and dinner’s at 1:30 p.m. There’s a traditional meal and a veggie option as well.
Come savor the flavors of Thanksgiving in Saugerties at the Diamond Mills Thanksgiving Day Buffet in the Ballroom from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. They’ll be serving all the traditional favorites; $42 for adults and $18 for the twelve-and-under set.
Out in Mount Tremper, the Emerson Resort and Spa will offer a Thanksgiving Day Buffet at Woodnotes Grille from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with all the traditional goodies. $35 adults; $15 for ages 6-12; under-sixes eat free. Reservations are required; call 845-688-2828.

Come to Kingston on Saturday, Nov. 28 between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. to experience the Sinterklaas Holiday Send-Off Celebration in the Rondout district. Enjoy live music, open houses with refreshments, and the Children’s Maritime Parade (all welcome to make free crowns and branches and join the march) and wave goodbye to Sinterklaas as he departs for Rhinebeck via tugboat.
