1pm Monday, 8/29: Through a source in New York City, we've got a report out of East Jewett over 100 people stranded on County Route 78/Colgate Rd. This is third-hand info from Kathie Schreibman, sent to us from Lisa Schreibman in NYC:
Yesterday evening, I made contact with my mother who lives in East Jewett. The East Kill cut a new bed just to the west of the first bridge on Colgate Rd AKA county route 78. All people east of the bridge are unable to cross the creek. There is a second location further east where a smaller creek also tore through the road.
At the eastern most point of the road, there is an AHRC camp where there may be as many as 150 developmentally disabled adults camping. They are cut off by both road failures.
Electricity and phone service is out in the area.
