This weekend, the spirit of Tanglewood descends on Stamford, with an outdoor concert showcasing twelve bright rising stars of the classical-music world. On Sunday, at 3pm, the Stamford-based Friends of Music are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a special free concert at the Cyr Center. (Make that the lawn of the Cyr Center, where, weather permitting, the performance will be held under a tent, garden-party style.)
The Silver Jubilee Chamber Ensemble -- twelve young performers from the New York City area, including Grammy-nominated violinist Jesse Mills -- will perform works by Torelli, Vivaldi, Mozart and Handel, as well as French Romantic composer Benjamin Godard and twentieth-century American composer Samuel Barber.
