This just in from the Times Herald-Record: Facing threats of legal action from Ulster County over their releases of turbid water into the Esopus Creek, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection has promised to stop the releases in 30 days.
According to the THR, not everybody at today's meeting between the DEP and upstate stakeholders to discuss the Esopus issue was satisfied.
The 30-day stop point did not sit well with [Ulster County Executive Mike] Hein, who said he didn't hear anything that would stop him from filing the suit.
"If the water was running the other way, they'd go nuts," Hein said of the DEP. "They promised a month ago that they'd stop in 30 days."
