CATSKILL — A former Coxsackie police sergeant and substance abuse educator was charged with drunk driving for the second time in the last decade.
Albany police officer Brian Lutz, who was once a Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer for the Coxsackie Police Department, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated.
Lutz, 39, of Troy, had been employed with the Albany Police Department since June 2008, said Albany Police Det. James Miller, and had been convicted of driving while ability impaired in 2001.
The story also points out, in a rather understated and newspaperish way, that former Coxsackie police chief Robert Helwig promoted Lutz after his first drunk-driving charge.
