Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council, Inc. (WCCRC) is pleased to announce that a new staff member has joined the long-established 501(c) 3 not-for-profit Rural Preservation Company and another has been recently promoted.
WCCRC’s mission is to cooperate with local, state and federal governmental and civic bodies in aiding, assisting and fostering the planning, development, renewal, and improvement of housing and other buildings in the counties of Delaware, Greene, and Schoharie, for the primary purpose of revitalizing communities and securing improved housing, commercial buildings and community facilities.
The hiring of Doug Senterman from the Town of Hunter to be the Property Manager will help WCCRC efficiently supervise the various properties they own and manage. Mr. Senterman comes to WCCRC from RUPCO’s rental assistance department where he was involved with housing inspections. At WCCRC Mr. Senterman’s responsibilities include administration of all operational functions of the property management component of WCCRC’s business; maintaining property rentals; negotiating and enforcing leases; maintaining and securing premises; overseeing employee and visitor safety, building maintenance, repair and upgrades, and many other things.
Michael Martin who has been with the company since March, 2013 in the position of Construction Manager has been promoted to Program Director. In this new position Mr. Martin will oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of WCCRC’s ongoing programs including compliance, planning, organizing, leading, and controlling program activities, as well as supervising program staff.
WCCRC provides grants for owner occupied housing rehabilitation, Main Street revitalization, and financial counseling to residents in Harpersfield, Kortright, Middletown, Roxbury, and Stamford in Delaware County; Ashland, Halcott, Hunter, Jewett, Lexington, and Prattsville in Greene County and Blenheim, Broome, Conesville, Fulton, Gilboa, Jefferson, and Summit in Schoharie County.
Some of the grants that WCCRC is currently managing include: two NY Main Street Programs (one in Jefferson and one in Hobart), Community Development Block Grants in the Towns of Fulton, Jefferson, Stamford and Summit, and service area-wide - a HOME owner-occupied housing rehabilitation grant and a HOME rental rehabilitation grant.
