Wednesday Night’s Show: The American Chestnut Foundation with Allen Nichols
On Wednesday night’s show From the Forest will be interviewing Allen Nichols from The American Chestnut Foundation (TACF). The TACF’s mission is “to restore the American chestnut to its historic range.” American chestnut was at one time, one of the most popular trees in the eastern forest. However, chestnut was mostly eliminated in the 20th century due to Chestnut Blight brought over from Asia. TACF has been hard at work in developing blight-resistant American chestnuts. WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Woodchucks everywhere! Is it just me, or does it seem that there are a lot of woodchucks these days. I went for a walk yesterday and noticed the wind had knocked down an immature red oak acorn. Hopefully, it’ll be a good acorn year. We’ll see.
