Wednesday Night’s Show: Hoppy Quick – Catskill Mountain Woodsman
Hoppy Quick’s family has been in the mountains of Ulster County for hundreds of years, and in that time they have learned a thing or 2 about trees and all that can be made from them. Hoppy has become well-known for the realism that his chain-saw carved bears display. He also has carved eagles, owls, mountain men, among countless other creatures From the Forest. For Hoppy, carving is one of many things he does, that keeps him connected to nature. Tune in at 91.3 FM or stream online @www.wioxradio.org to meet Hop – Catskill Mountain Woodsman.
WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Daffodils have arrived where my wife planted them last year. Turkey buzzards returned a few weeks ago, and I heard some spring peepers down below in the valley. It’s been a long winter, but spring is here to stay. I cut some eastern redcedars down at my parents, and by the time I packed up my saw and headed down the driveway, there were 4 deer already browsing the prunings. It has been a rough winter for them too.
May the forest be with you,
