Wednesday Night’s Show: Thanksgiving & Our Forests
On tonight's show we’ll be talking about all we have to be thankful for when it comes to our forests – since it is almost Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day is a time to look back into our history and be mindful of what we have to be thankful for presently. The same can be applied to our forests. There are many positive aspects we enjoy today about our forests that we owe to those that came before us. Native Americans, early settlers, farmers, and recent conservationists have greatly influenced the forests we see and enjoy today. Tune in at 91.3 FM or stream online at www.wioxradio.org to learn more… about where those tasty blueberries growing in the woods may have come from!
WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Guess who’s back? Winter! Wintry conditions have returned and waiting for deer to visit my location last Sunday while hunting made me fully aware of this season’s return. Windy gusts with temperatures sailing in the 20s made things feel more like -5°F. Cold! And not good for sitting still. I was thinking of my woodstove and why I wasn’t near it. Not one shot that morning. The deer were smarter; they bedded down and waited for the wind to pass.
May the forest be with you,
