Composer Robert Cucinotta will provide the musical score that he created for the In Flight exhibit in conjunction with the mosaics of Jeanne Ellsworth and the poems of Sharon Israel to be featured at its opening at the Orphic Gallery in Roxbury on Saturday April 6th from 5 to 7 pm.
Robert Cucinotta is a composer of concert and theater music exploring both experimental and more traditional styles. After studying composition, electronic and computer music with Jacob Druckman, Charles Dodge and Robert Starer, he gained recognition early in his career for his percussion music that has been performed at the Smithsonian, Merkin Hall, Bargemusic, at colleges throughout the U.S., in Ireland and in Australia. Performances of his concert works include those by the Staten Island Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, the 21st Century Consort, guitarist David Starobin, and pianist Justin Kolb. Cucinotta has written incidental and electronic music for several productions at the Open Eye Theater, for WIOX radio, and for the 2010 STS production of Jules Feiffer’s dark comedy, Little Murders. Two albums of his music, Little Murders and Sample Case were released in 2012.
The Orphic Gallery is located at the Roxbury Corner Store at 53525 State Highway 30, Roxbury, NY, at the corner of Main and Bridge Streets. The exhibit will continue through May 2013 and be open to the public during the gallery’s normal business hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 12-5 pm.
