Are You a Word-ivore? Please Read Locally

Knock on any door here in the mountains, and you're likely as not to find yourself at the home of a writer, artist, musician or all of the above.

News Ink Books wants to encourage word-ivores to Read (and buy) Locally this holiday. We are struck by the number of new titles available that features regional writers. Among them:

--Writers in the Mountains Pocket Companion

--Walton Writers' Works "From the Catskill Mountains"

--Various titles from Bertha Rogers' Bright Hill Press

--A lovely memoir, "Here Are the Pictures You Wanted and the Stories That Illustrate Them," by Stamford's T.M. Bradshaw

--A wide selection (humor, true crime and memoir) from News Ink Books, including Jim Mullen's "Kill Me, Elmo: The Holiday Depression Fun Books," and "Yorktown: Growing Up in Small-Town Iowa," by Richard B. Ulmer Jr. (For more on our titles, visit www.newsinkbooks.com or "like" News Ink Books on Facebook.)

Most of these books are available locally--for example, at the Green Toad in Oneonta, Adams Books in Hobart, the Biblio Barn, and Main St. Cards and Gifts in Delhi. Most also are available on Amazon.

And if you want to say hello to many of these authors, buy their books and get personalized signatures and dedications, come the Greater Stamford C of C's Holiday Pop-Up Market on Thursday, Dec. 20 (2:30 to 6:30 p.m.) at the Cyr Center, 159 W. Main St. in Stamford.

Thanks for your consideration.
