Here are two stringed instruments by RCS students to be exhibited at ARS MUSICA opening at the Orphic Gallery on December 1st from 5-7 pm.
The Orphic Gallery is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit – ARS MUSICA, Musical Art by the Art Students of the Roxbury Central School. In accordance with the mission of the Orphic Gallery to present art relating to and inspired by music, the exhibit will showcase works by the students on musical themes.
ARS MUSICA will open with an artists’ reception on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 5-7 pm. The Orphic Gallery is located at the Roxbury Corner Store at 53525 State Highway 30, Roxbury, NY, at the corner of Main and Bridge Streets. The exhibit will continue through January 2013 and be open to the public during the gallery’s normal business hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 12-5 pm.
Roxbury Central School art teacher Michael Reidlinger has been working to curate the show with gallery proprietor Phillip Lenihan. The exhibit will feature works of a musical nature in various media from the Painting & Drawing, and Sculpture & Ceramics classes. The students have been executing pieces in pencil, conté pastel, pastel, ceramics and textiles. Particularly inspired are the musical instruments fabricated out of found objects by the sculpture students.
