Phoenicia Diner, a new locally and sustainably sourced diner in the Catskill Mountains region of New York, will open late summer and is looking to staff its floor and kitchen. Located on busy and scenic Route 28, this renovated vintage diner will be frequented by outdoor enthusiasts, vacationers, weekenders, and full-time residents alike.
The Diner will bring a new source of good food to the area, and needs you to help it succeed. We will connect producer and consumer in a shortened path from field to fork within a casual environment in a beautiful natural setting.
We seek experienced kitchen and waitstaff for our 80-seat and counter-service restaurant that will serve breakfast and lunch, and eventually dinner, in the following roles:
Front of House Manager
Servers
Line cooks
Dishwasher/prep cooks
We offer an invaluable opportunity for any budding cook and service industry individual to be a vital part of a restaurant opening. Cooks will work within a unique model of sourcing & food creation based on Catskill Mountains/Hudson Valley bounty. Floor staff will learn to communicate the connection between the ingredients and the traditional American diner food that will be carefully crafted from it. It will be hard work in a rewarding environment with a sense of fun. We will create a strongly collaborative team and are committed to learning and room for growth for each individual. Requirements:
- You must thrive in a team environment and be adaptable and flexible
- 1-2 yrs restaurant experience for servers and cooks
- 3+ yrs experience for FOH Mgr, with at least 2 yrs restaurant management experience
- A sense of humor
- A great work ethic
- Weekend and weekday availability
Wages commensurate with experience. Start time: mid to late August.
