We’re very pleased to present a relatively new string quartet of seasoned players from Glimmerglass Festival Orchestra. First violinist Ruotao Mao, a native of Beijing, is Glimmerglass concertmaster. His playing was described by Classical New Jersey as “virtuosodisplay of world-class magnitude” and as reaching “far beyond mere technical competence.” Violinist Sue Rabut, a member of Boston’s Lyric Opera, Opera Boston, and Boston Classical Orchestra, plays period violin with Cecelia Society, Boston Baroque and Handel and Haydn Society. Jeannine “Dee Dee”Fancher has been playing the viola for forty years and been a member of theGlimmerglass Orchestra for fifteen. Cellist Ruth Berry is a member of the Magellan String Quartet and has recorded on the Spectrum and Nonesuch labels.They will perform selections by 19th and 20th century composers, including Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13 in Bb major, op. 130.
