The documentary film, SWEET VIOLETS, will be shown on Friday, May 18th at the Mountain Top Historical Society in Haines Falls at 7:30PM. Suggestion donation for the screening is $3.00.
SWEET VIOLETS will also be shown in conjunction with The Historical Society of Woodstock at Woodstock's Upstate Films on Sunday, May 20th at 3:30PM. Admission to this screening is free.
The filmmaker, Tobe Carey, will be on hand for both showings to take part in a post-screening Q&A session.
The film tells the story of the former Violet Capital of the World - Rhinebeck, New York. At one time nearly 400 greenhouses spread throughout Rhinebeck and surrounding Dutchess County supplied millions of violet blooms popular for fragrant corsages and to celebrate Valentine's Day and Easter.
