Today, after watching the heart shaped violet leaves begin to grow, I finally spotted my first backyard violet of the season. Here, in Glenford, the wild violets have spread and I anticipate many beautiful flowers this season. In addition, I have ordered some cultivated violets from a nursery and will plant them in speckled shade in May, when they arrive.
