Choreographers and sound-makers Hadar Ahuvia and Tatyana Tenenbaum explore their Jewish lineages through body and voice, opening family histories in the comfort and challenge of each other’s gaze. Lorene Bouboushian works within dance, experimental music/noise, and performance art to build an interconnected practice through performances and workshopping, writing, dialogue, and modes of care and support. Leslie Cuyjet unpacks her two decades of performing across postmodern and experimental forms through the lens of a Black woman, using writing, video, and choreography.
Art-B-Qs best encapsulate the essence of Mount Tremper Arts: the cultivation of community and new artworks in situ. In these hybrid events, artists and audiences share conversations over a delicious meal inspired by the MTA garden after a presentation of works developed during intensive, on-site residencies. All perspectives are welcome as we find the lively intersections (and digressions) between rigorous contemporary art practices and many other walks of life.
Each menu includes a meat or vegetarian main, two sides, and a dessert. Produce is harvested from both the MTA garden and local farms. Advance tickets are highly recommended, and include both art programming and dinner.
