MURAL, the Mount Utsayantha Regional Arts League, is honored to host its annual Student Art Show. The exhibition will be on view at the MURAL on Main Gallery, located at 631 Main Street, Hobart, NY 13788, from Saturday, March 18th through Saturday, April 29th. In addition, MURAL will host an Opening Reception for this exhibit on Saturday, March 18th, from 2-4 pm.
The Student Art Show will showcase the talent of artists from four local schools: Stamford, Jefferson, Gilboa-Conesville, and South Kortright. Art teachers from these schools select students in grades 9 through 12 to present work in all mediums. Awards for art in this exhibition will be given based on judging by area art teachers Jill Karen Accordino and Lee Sperling. At the opening reception, ribbons will be hung and many of the students and art teachers will be available to share insight on the artworks.
On Saturday, March 25th, Susan H. Priest will present a special children’s art workshop. Students age 6-12 will learn about using color in art and then create their own cray-pas on canvas painting. All necessary materials and instruction will be provided and creativity will be encouraged. The cost for this workshop is $5 and sign up is available through the workshop page on the MURAL website, www.muralartgallery.org, or by calling the gallery at (607)538-3002.
Exhibitions and workshops at MURAL on Main are made possible with funding from the Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation, the O’Connor Foundation, the Community Foundation for South Central New York- Joyce and David Barber Donor Advised Fund, the Hobart Community Foundation, and C.O.R.E.
