MURAL on Main is proud to host an Opening Reception for “Charcoal & Glass,” an exhibition of the art of Lis Engel and Nisha Bansil. The event will take place on Saturday, May 14th, from 2-4pm, at the MURAL on Main Gallery, located at 631 Main Street, Hobart, NY 13788.
Lis Engel studied printmaking and drawing at Hunter College. She is drawn to charcoal because of a fascination with the limitless tones that can be achieved in between the darkest dark and lightest light. About her charcoal drawings, Lis states: “my aim is to strike a satisfying balance between the discipline of process and the freedom of chance.”
Nisha Bansil studied printmaking at the State University of New York at New Paltz. She has completed various residencies and assistantships in the field of glass. Her work is an exploration of pattern, form, and structure. Nisha states: “Like the tessellated patterns found in Islamic architecture, my work strives to meld natural phenomena with geometric form.”
The reception on May 14th will include refreshments and is free to the public. The “Charcoal & Glass” exhibit will be on view through June 25th. The MURAL on Main Gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays from 12-4pm, during special events as listed on our website, or by appointment- (607)538-3002.
