On April 16th, 2013, to usher in spring, Frost Valley YMCA employees took part in their 7th Annual Roadside Clean-Up event. The roadside cleanup began in 2006 to give back to the local community and take care of the environment. Says Katia Martin, the Day Camp Director in charge of planning the event this year: "We have a social responsibility to keep our community clean."
Frost Valley considers local community projects and support to be a vital part of its mission. CEO Jerry Huncosky began the Roadside Clean-Up as a way of supporting the local community and tying that with another part of the Frost Valley mission – environmental stewardship.
After litter sweeping Frost Valley's entire main camp, 25 staff members, including CEO Jerry Huncosky, joined together to clean up debris from 14.5 miles of both Frost Valley and Claryville Roads.
