New eateries are popping up across the Catskills -- so many, in fact, that we can't list them all in one story. In Delaware County alone, in the central and western Catskills, seven new restaurants have recently opened their doors.
Goatie Whites
46 Depot St., Fleischmanns

Owner Bob Zellner’s goatee is the inspiration for the name of this new ice cream parlor and café at the corner of Depot Street and Route 28 in the village of Fleischmanns. Zellner and his wife, Norika, are both longtime Delaware County locals who began serving Perry’s hard ice cream and soft-serve custard on Memorial Day.

Dine inside their cheerfully-painted dining room or outside on the picnic tables after you step up to the ice cream window and order your favorite flavor. Cones of all sizes are under $3.
The couple added breakfast and lunch to their menu in July, and plan to expand into offering barbecue dinners a few times per month as well. There are plans in the works for “Show Off Your Ride Wednesdays” and a weekly farmers’ market.
Maplehurst Family Restaurant
75 Maple Rd., Roxbury

Richard Neff, along with wife Tanya, own this retro Italian restaurant, housed in a 10-room former inn located on the outskirts of the downtown Roxbury on Route 30. The restaurant is decorated with antique dining tables and hand-painted walls, and the mood is reminiscent of a Little Italy mainstay.
Richard, formerly of Long Island, worked in construction for 45 years and moonlighted as a chef for 21 of those years before buying the building in January of 2015 and opening Maplehurst in May.
Maplehurst's pizzas starts at $14.99 for a large cheese pie, and the menu includes nostalgic Italian staples like clams casino (see photo at the top of this story). Richard grows his own herbs and uses them in his dishes. Cindy’s Produce Stand, a hop, skip and a jump down Route 30, often provides eggs for the chef, who also prides himself on the use of fresh (and very tasty) sausage.
Neff has big plans for the rest of the building. His dream, he says, is to turn the 10 upstairs rooms into five themed suites with jacuzzis and reopen the Maplehurst as a hotel once again.
Two Old Tarts
22 Lee Lane, Andes

Originally located in the nearby town of Bovina, Two Old Tarts is now in its second season at a new location in Andes. Owners Scott Finley and John Schulman bought the former Slow Down Café building in 2014 and spent much of last year renovating the interior.
Open in the summer every day except Wednesday, the café has expanded from serving breakfast, lunch, espresso and a wide array of desserts into serving dinner as well. The dinner menu features main courses like sesame seared ahi tuna tacos and Thai curry chicken that range from $15 to $25. But the heart of the Tarts is still the bakery, where croissants and tarts run from $3 and $5.

Shephard Hills Bar & Grill
562 Shephard Hill Rd., Roxbury
On July 3, the owners of Stone Tavern Farm opened a new restaurant in the former home of the short-lived Greek eatery Petra Estiatorio at the Shephard Hills Golf Club in Roxbury, according to Catskill Eats, a new food blog run by Jennifer Strom, the former editor of the Catskills Food Guide. The restaurant is serving “burgers, Nathan’s hot dogs, french fries, pulled-pork barbecue and other simple dishes,” and the occasional experimental sushi night, Strom reports.
