A 48-year-old Walton man died on Tuesday, Dec. 9 after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road and into a tree in the Delaware County town of Hamden, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Kelvin J. McKnight was driving north on Route 10 near the intersection of County Highway 26 when his vehicle swerved to the left and drove off the highway, a Sheriff's Office press release states. James C. Spain, a 23-year-old from Walton, was also in the vehicle. McKnight was transported to O’Connor Hospital in Delhi, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash, police say.
Spain was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton for evaluation and treatment. Deputies were assisted at the scene by both Delhi and Walton Fire Departments and EMS Squads, the release states. The accident remains under investigation.
Update: The Daily Star has more details about the crash. Both men were pastors on their way to visit an inmate at the Delaware County Jail, the paper reports.
