At 8:30pm, the National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a warning that a tornado or potential tornado was near Dunraven in the town of Middletown.
Although ominous dark clouds and pelting rain were visible in central Delaware County by multiple observers around 8:30pm, so far there have been no reports that a tornado was sighted.
According to the NWS 8:30 warning statement, "when a tornado warning is issued based on Doppler Radar, it means that strong rotation has been detected in the storm. A tornado may already be on the ground, or is expected to develop shortly."
The NWS cancelled the tornado warning at 8:45pm.

Severe thunderstorms and flooding are still a possibility tonight, however.
The NWS issued a flash flood warning for central Delaware County -- including the villages of Walton and Delhi -- until tonight at 11:30pm. The warning noted that there was some flooding reported in Delhi at 8:30pm, although the hydrograph for the West Branch of the Delaware River in Delhi charted the waters at well below flooding at 9:15pm. No other Catskills hydrographs reported flooding at that time.
Around 9pm, a commenter on the NWS Binghamton Facebook page reported minor flooding in Treadwell and Delhi.
The NWS in Binghamton also issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Sullivan and Delaware counties until 11pm.
The tornado warning interrupted public comments at the public hearing on Belleayre Ski Center and the proposed Belleayre Resort tonight in Highmount.
