Flash flood warning for Delaware and Otsego counties cancelled

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a flash flood warning for northern Delaware and southern Otsego counties, including the towns of Delhi and Oneonta. Torrential rainfall is expected anytime between now and 12:30pm, and the Oleout, Treadwell, and Charlotte Creek watersheds are at risk for flash flooding.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... NORTHERN DELAWARE COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK... SOUTHERN OTSEGO COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK...

* UNTIL 1230 PM EDT

* AT 825 AM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED AN AREA OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER THE WARNED AREA. RADAR ESTIMATES AND SPOTTER REPORTS INDICATE THAT RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR HAVE BEEN COMMON...WITHIN A BAND OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL MOVING THROUGH THE WARNED AREA. ADDITIONAL TORRENTIAL RAINFALL CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH AT LEAST 9 TO 930 AM. THE OLEOUT...TREADWELL...AND CHARLOTTE CREEK WATERSHEDS APPEAR TO BE AT RISK FOR FLASH FLOODING.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO DELHI AND ONEONTA.

RAPID FLOODING OF STREAMS...CREEKS...URBAN...AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS IS LIKELY IN AND NEAR THESE LOCATIONS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT TAKES ONLY A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.

Flash flood warning for Otsego and Delaware Counties has been cancelled. State police and county 911 dispatch reported only minor problems in Sidney and Unadilla. What did you see there?
