Delaware County Chairman, James E. Eisel, Sr., has declared a State of Emergency for Delaware County. All roads in the county will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. when conditions will be reassessed.
Updated, 6pm: Delaware County has issued a press release. Although the county is in a state of emergency, there have been no announcements made about emergency shelters. The state of emergency will be reevaluated at 6am Teusday morning.

Delaware County Chairman, James E. Eisel, Sr., has declared a State of Emergency for Delaware County. All roads in the county will be closed effective at 8PM October 29, 2012, continuing until 6AM October 30, 2012, at which time it will be reevaluated.
Sustained wind speeds of 40 MPH will begin early this evening after dark with wind gusts possibly as high as 70 MPH continuing throughout the night. In light of that, it is anticipated there will be outages due to downed trees. Due to the danger posed by downed power lines in darkness the County Highway Department will not begin clearing roads of debris until daylight. County highway will assess and begin work at 6 AM. The EOC is monitoring the status of downed power lines. Emergency access will be made for emergencies.
New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) – For electricity emergencies and power interruptions contact 1.800.572.1131. Restoration efforts will continue, wind conditions permitting throughout the night. For natural gas emergencies or natural gas odors call 1.800.572.1121. At this time, there are 242 NYSEG customers without power in Delaware County.
Delaware County Electric Cooperative (DCEC). The DCEC contact number is 607-746-2341. DCEC will only be serving outages after dark in the cases of an emergency to protect employee safety.
Safety Reminders:
• Do not drive through water on roadways
• A street signal that is out you should be considered a 4-way stop
• Stay inside away from windows, especially in high gusting winds
• Do not travel
• Do not burn candles near anything flammable
• Do not attempt to cut trees where power lines are down.
• Generators can be dangerous. Please use with caution
• Stay out of flooded basements.
Provisions for shelters and food distribution are being explored and will be announced when established.
