First the Cannonsville Adventure Triathlon, now the Kingston's Artists' Soap Box Derby. What other awesome summer Catskills events are going to be cancelled this year?
The Times Herald-Record reports that the artists' derby, which has featured sculptures on wheels for the past 16 years, is on the rocks, just like its organizers' marriage:
The 2011 Artists' Soap Box Derby has been canceled because of the divorce of Yourij and Nancy Donskoj — the event's co-founders, Yourij Donskoj said.
"It would be better not to do it at all than to do it with a compromised effort," he said.
The derby will return in 2012, the Daily Freeman reports.
