8:18am: Barbara Gref, an editor and WJFF volunteer who lives in Jeffersonville in Sullivan County, reports that the Town of Rockland is in a state of emergency:
(Livingston Manor and Roscoe) under a state of emergency. Livingston Manor and Roscoe Schools closed. Roscoe school has been put into service as an evacuation shelter. Town of Callicoon (Jeffersonville ad Youngsville) under a state of Emergency. Sullivan West Schools are closed. News from the East Branch of Callicoon Creek: flood waters seen to be receding at the dam at Lake Jefferson. Let's hope more rain does not reverse that. Beaverkill River north of here crested over into flood stage about 6 a.m. Flood stage is 10 feet; river is at 12.45 as of 7 a.m.
We've got a call in to Livingston Manor's fire chief. The person who picked up the phone at the Livingston Manor Fire Department when I called reported that several streets in the Manor have been evacuated.
