Roscoe flood update

Catskill Flies in Roscoe is blogging and tweeting about conditions in Roscoe all day today. Here's their latest report, from 8:40am:

UPDATE at 8:40-Walt & Chris are out checking conditions as I am on the computer-here is the latest-Russell Brook looks like Esopus-running hard & probably some trailers got some damage, The road to Cooks Falls is closed-due to water across the road. Bernie's campground is flooded again but the trailers were pulled out-his garage is flooded however. Rte. 206 is closed once again. Old 17 is closed in some sections. The Roscoe Motel was evacuated at 4:30 this a.m. Apparently Livingston Manor suffered some damage-specifics unknown.

The heavy, heavy rain has fallen all night and all rivers are exceedingly high, many are already above flood stage. We can expect rivers to continue to rise. The only good thing is that the wind advisory has been cancelled. No fishing will be possible for at least a few days until the rivers recede. Damage remains unknown at this very early hour. Suggest everyone stay at home until the rain ends and the damage can be assessed and roads are deemed safe. We will try to keep on updating this report throughout the day.

The Catskill Chronicle has some photos of a brook on Dutch Hill Road in Roscoe, taken by Sandy Acome:

“The brook was completely dry yesterday,” said Ms. Acome. During last night’s storm boulders were heard crashing down into the brook. She woke to find the normally dry brook filled with rushing water.
