Despite what looks like a victory for U.S. Representative Maurice Hinchey in Tuesday's election, his opponent, George Phillips, isn't ready to concede, the Daily Freeman reports:
Matt Hutson, a Phillips campaign spokesman, said on Thursday that absentee ballots still are being counted and Phillips believes that if people were conscientious enough to cast them, they should be tallied. “He wants every vote to count,” Hutson said of why Phillips decided not to concede on Thursday, as originally planned.
Why the hesitation? The story points out that a large number of absentee ballots from Broome County, a Phillips stronghold, still need to be counted.
