A traffic stop led to something more on Wednesday when the State Police arrested three people in Greene County for marijuana possession. 33-year-old Marjorie D. Bunn was one of the two people stopped in the car, which was found to contain a pound of pot. Based on what she and her companion Cory Dee Petteway told the cops, the State Police searched a home in Athens, where they found two more pounds of pot. They then arrested 31-year-old Herbert W. Nichols for possession as well.
Both the Daily Freeman and the Daily Mail have the story, and the Daily Mail adds some more details about Nichols' domestic situation:
Police said three children between the ages of one month and six years were in proximity of the drugs allegedly in the home at the time a search warrant for the home was executed. The children’s mother was also in the residence but has not been charged with any crime, according to police.
For keeping the kids in the house near the drugs, Nichols was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
