Christopher G. Barcey, 37, died on Sunday while driving an ATV "erratically and at a high rate of speed" in the town of Cairo in Greene County, according to the Daily Freeman. The cops are quoted as saying that drugs and alcohol were possibly involved:
“Our initial investigation is indicating that,” Brainard said. “We have good indications that both of those things were involved.”
Barcey was wearing head protection, but not the kind that could save his life:
“It was like a full-face BMX bike helmet. It wasn’t anything you should be wearing on an ATV,” Brainard said.
This is the third ATV-related death in the past month in Greene County. Last month, two teenagers were killed while riding an ATV in Palenville.
